Bowlers stand up on the day as RCB bag a much-needed win
RCB’s bowlers delivered in time for Virat Kohli to give their side a much-needed two points in front of a packed Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Chasing 168, Mumbai Indians got off to a disastrous start courtesy of some brilliant bowling from Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee. The pair ripped through the top order and dealt a major blow to Mumbai Indians. Duminy played a sensible innings to steady things for Mumbai Indians. Pollard soon departed and he was followed by Duminy. The Pandya brothers strung an excellent partnership together to ensure Mumbai Indians got close to the chase but some superb bowling at the death from Mohammad Siraj and Tim Southee ensured Royal Challengers Bangalore got the much-needed two points.
Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a flying start with some blistering hitting by Vohra and McCullum. Vohra played an exciting knock before departing for 45 runs. Kohli and McCullum added a valuable 60 run partnership. Just when RCB looked on course for a big total, Mumbai Indians pulled things back brilliantly. The 18th over bowled by Hardik Pandya yielded three wickets and Kohli’s men struggled to get going. A last-over flourish from Colin de Grandhomme ensured they reached a competitive total of 167.
RCB’s bowling attack stood up on the day. Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee and Mohammad Siraj delivered for Kohli. Vohra seemed to be in great knick and overall, it was a complete team performance.
What’s next for RCB?
RCB face an in-form CSK up next at Pune. RCB will need to take the winning momentum into the next game to have any chance of winning the game. A cracking match is on the cards.
